Walkers Shortbread Limited, Scotland’s leading shortbread producer is very proud to receive the Queens Awards for Enterprise for International Trade. This family company was established in 1898 and is still situated in the village of Aberlour in beautiful Speyside. It is now run by the third and fourth generation of the Walker family.
The company is best known for the quality of its pure butter shortbread, oatcakes and other Scottish specialities. All Walkers products are made by traditional methods using only the finest ingredients, without any artificial flavourings, colourings or additives. Walkers has become a flagship of Scottish foods and is the leading Scottish branded food in many export markets.
Sales have grown steadily over the years. Approximately 40% of the company's products are exported to more than 80 far-reaching overseas markets.
Walkers believe that they are the only UK food manufacturer to have won this prestigious award four times, having previously been a recipient in 1984, 1988 and 1999.
Since 1999 exports have continued to increase and the company’s workforce has now risen from approximately 500 to well over 1,000 today.

Our export operations are integral to the whole company and every member of staff knows that they make a contribution to the company’s export success”.
Walkers have stimulated their exports through continued innovation and this year will again see several new products being introduced both for export and home markets. Nowadays, Walkers’ products provide a nostalgic taste of home to millions of Scottish ex-pats overseas, and its products are enjoyed by many nationalities all around the world. All of its biscuit products are vegetarian and are certified Kosher OUD.
Walkers’ distinctive tartan livery proudly proclaims its Scottish heritage and is recognised as a mark of quality the World over, as well as being treasured and esteemed in its Scottish homeland.
